Mentor support for acquiring business skills
By the presentation of its IoT services before a board of experts, seven student teams completed the vocational training program of the third round of the IoT Lab, which was launched by Telekom Srbija with the aim of improving the domestic innovation system and attracting young talents. The company has placed education and talent development support programs among its strategic commitments within the socially responsible activities. Such programs and cooperation with partner organizations additionally contribute to the spread of digital knowledge and the improvement of digital competences of students in Serbia, which also contributes to the development of the domestic innovation ecosystem.
During a four-month program, multidisciplinary student teams from four universities in Serbia (Belgrade, Kragujevac, Niš and Novi Sad), attended mentor workshops where they developed industrially applicable IoT solutions in the spheres of “smart agriculture”, “smart buildings”, the environmental protection system and the human health protection system.
Telekom Srbija’s mentor teams helped students develop applicable IoT solutions, design business models and adopt the basics of project management, i.e. skills which are necessary for them to handle the contemporary business environment. Apart from mentorship, Telekom Srbija provided IoT equipment and components for creating devices, as well as the complete infrastructure for the teams’ work.
Within the third round the students attended a lecture organized by the TS Ventures Fund, the investment fund of Telekom Srbija, where the students get acquainted with the desirable ways of presenting business ideas and solutions before the possible investors, as well as the requirements for establishing start-up companies.
